California White Sage Smudge Bundle (4")
Salvia apiana
A Sacred Medicine Honoured by Indigenous Peoples of the Southwestern United States
Preparing the Way
California White Sage (Salvia apiana) is a sacred plant native to the southwestern United States, where it has been honoured for countless generations by several Indigenous Nations as part of ceremony, prayer, and cultural practice.
Within many Anishinaabe teachings, sage is one of the Four Sacred Medicines used during smudging and ceremony. While the species of sage traditionally used may differ among Indigenous Nations and communities, California White Sage has become widely recognized and respectfully used by many people today.
When gently burned, the aromatic smoke is traditionally used to prepare a space for prayer, reflection, or ceremony. It offers an invitation to pause, become present, and begin with a clear and grateful mind.
Whether used in ceremony or quiet personal practice, this hand-tied bundle invites moments of mindfulness, gratitude, and reflection.

Responsibly Sourced
Our California White Sage is sourced through trusted growers and suppliers who harvest responsibly and support sustainable cultivation practices.
We believe caring for sacred medicines also means caring for the lands and communities from which they come.
Care & Use
Store your sage bundle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excess moisture.
To use, light one end of the bundle until it briefly catches flame. Gently blow out the flame, allowing the bundle to smoulder. Place it in a fire-safe vessel, such as an abalone shell or heat-resistant bowl, and use your hand or a feather to gently guide the smoke.
Always burn in a well-ventilated area and never leave burning materials unattended.
A Note on Respectful Use
California White Sage is more than an aromatic plant—it carries deep cultural and ceremonial significance for many Indigenous communities.
We encourage approaching this medicine with humility, gratitude, and respect for the traditions from which it comes. If you are learning outside your own cultural traditions, we invite you to continue learning from Indigenous Knowledge Keepers and Elders whenever possible.
Herbal Considerations
Although many people enjoy sage for culinary and traditional purposes, California White Sage should be used thoughtfully.
For uses beyond culinary purposes, sage is generally not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, as it may stimulate uterine activity and may reduce milk supply.
Always consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before using herbal products, particularly if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a medical condition, are taking prescription medications, or have known allergies.
